The second International Workshop on
Radiological Sciences and Applications (IWRSA) was held in Vienna, Austria at
the Vienna International Center (VIC), IAEA, March
16-18, 2005. The theme of this workshop was "Peaceful Uses of Nuclear
Technologies". The workshop
was very successful in providing an informal forum for in-depth discussion of
important issues and to promote international cooperative projects in
radiological sciences and technologies. The goals of the meeting were:
The
workshop took a multidisciplinary approach that considers the technical and
scientific problems as well as the policy, cultural,
and socioeconomic issues. This workshop sponsored by Radiochemistry Society,
cosponsored by IAEA and Endorsed by the American Physical Society. Other sponsors of this workshop were
Sandia National Laboratory, Los Alamos National Laboratory, Lawrence Berkeley
National Laboratory, Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory and Canberra
Industries. This workshop was held at IAEA headquarters at Vienna and chaired
by Ms. Gabi Voigt who is the Director of IAEA Laboratories at Seibersdorf,
Austria. More than a couple papers and a half dozen breakout sessions were
scheduled to discuss the following topics:
